Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], August 21 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended his wishes to BJP leader Kiran Choudhary on filing her nomination from Haryana for Rajya Sabha by-election. She filed her nomination in the presence of CM Saini and several MLAs on Wednesday.
CM Nayab Singh Saini said, “I congratulate Kiran Choudhary on filing her nomination (from Haryana for Rajya Sabha by-election), I extend my best wishes to her. She filed her nomination today, all our MLAs are present here. Other MLAs have also supported her. Jogiram Sihag, Ramniwas Surjakhera, Ram Kumar Gautam, Anoop Dhanak, Nayan Pal Rawat and Gopal Kanda have given their letter of support to Kiran Choudhary. Nomination has been filed.”
BJP leader Kiran Choudhary thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and all MLAs from Haryana.
Kiran Choudhary said, “First of all, I would like to thank the entire top leadership of BJP, PM Modi, HM, Manohar Lal, party chief JP Nadda, CM Nayab Saini and all MLAs – from BJP and other parties – who supported me. My family has old ties with BJP, Chaudhary Bansi Lal had run the Government with the BJP and the entire Haryana prospered at that time. Influenced by the policies of PM Modi and the then CM Manohar Lal Khattar, I joined the BJP. I saw that the time to come belongs to the BJP and that I would be fortunate to join a party that works in the interest of the country, in the interest of the state. I have always worked very honestly, in the time to come I will raise the issues of the public interest of Haryana.”
She was fielded by the Congress party as its candidate in 2004, but she missed out on being elected as then Speaker of the Haryana Assembly Satbir Singh Kadian, (INLD MLA) had removed six MLAs from power who were supporting Kiran Chaudhary.
She further said, “Deceit was done to me at that time (in 2004) and I was betrayed, Congress leadership in Haryana knows very well how to betray. So, this happened to me in 2004.”
Former Congress leader Kiran Choudhary is the daughter-in-law of former Haryana CM Bansi Lal, she joined the BJP earlier this year and has been fielded for the Rajya Sabha from Haryana.
The Election Commission announced on Wednesday, September 3, as the date for Elections for 12 vacant seats in Rajya Sabha. As per the ECI, the scrutiny of nominations will be held on August 22. The last date of withdrawal of candidatures for Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tripura is August 26 and for Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan Telangana and Odisha–August 27.
The polling will be held on September 3 from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes will be held on September 3 at 5 pm.
There are two vacant seats in Assam, two in Bihar, one in Haryana, one in MP, two in Maharashtra, one in Rajasthan, one in Tripura, one in Telangana and one in Odisha. (ANI)
