Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 1 (ANI): Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Bengal President Sukanta Majumdar launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging corruption within the state police and predicting the BJP’s victory in the 2026 assembly elections.
Commenting on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to West Bengal, Majumdar said Shah’s presence would send a strong message to the Chief Minister of Bengal.
“Only those who have been reached, our leaders from different levels, will come. When Amit Shah roars from here, it will bring tremors to the CM’s residence,” Majumdar told ANI after Shah arrived in Kolkata for his two-day visit.
He said that under BJP governance, Bengal would witness “Ram Rajya” and justice for its teachers and citizens.
Speaking to ANI after the arrival of Union Home Minister in Kolkata, Majmudar said, “Mamata Banerjee has committed a sin, and that sin is coming out in the form of tears from the eyes of the teachers and their families. Still, Mamata Banerjee will have to pay for every tear. In 2026, she will be out of power, and there will be Ram Rajya in the state. The BJP will come to power.”
Majumdar also reacted sharply to the Chief Minister’s recent remarks about Operation Sindoor, calling them disrespectful to women across the state.
“Had there been no Operation Sindoor, PM Modi and HM Amit Shah would still have come here as we are a national party, and there is an election in West Bengal. But, the word ‘selling of Sindoor’ that Mamata Banerjee used is a disrespect to the crores of women in West Bengal, as the women apply Sindoor on their forehead as a mark of respect, even we use Sindoor when we worship the mother goddess.”
Majumdar further claimed that the Chief Minister was unsettled by PM Modi’s visit. “After the PM’s visit, the CM was rattled. She is demanding an early election. I think she is tired, and she feels that if the early elections are held, she will be relieved from the post sooner.”
He linked the Murshidabad incident to broader law and order concerns. “People of Bengal must understand that if the BJP government doesn’t come to power, incidents like Murshidabad will continue to happen. Mamata Banerjee has demeaned the women of West Bengal, and they will respond to her in the coming election.”
Criticising the administration, he said, “Police officers and a few leaders have pleased Mamata Banerjee using bribes, and the state police is acting like the goons of TMC.
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Saturday for a two-day visit to West Bengal. He was received at the airport by the West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari, along with other BJP leaders.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bengal, saying that “a vicious and false campaign” was taken out at Alipurduar district in North Bengal with politically motivated intentions aimed at “narrow power gains.”
Hitting out at PM Modi in a post on X, Bengal CM said that “blatant untruths” were told by the PM, and proceeded to share some facts and data relating to the “actual impactful initiatives” for the people of the district.
“A vicious and false campaign was there at Alipurduar in North Bengal from a self-serving and politically motivated point of view for narrow power gains. This was a campaign that attempted to downplay and erase the significant development works of our government for the people in the Alipurduar district. The blatant untruths were served from the high quarters of the Hon’ble Prime Minister,” the Bengal CM’s post read.
during his Bengal visit, Prime Minister Modi took aim at the Trinamool Congress government, alleging that West Bengal is facing multiple crises.
“First is the crisis of violence and anarchy spreading in the society. Second is the unsafety of our mothers and sisters who are being subjected to heinous crimes. The third crisis is of extreme despair and rampant unemployment spreading among the youth. The fourth crisis is the continuously declining trust in the system. The fifth crisis is of the selfish politics of the ruling party, which steals the rights of the poor,” he said. (ANI)
