New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Former cricketer and Trinamool Congress leader Yusuf Pathan was sworn in on Tuesday as a Member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha session.
Pathan contested the recent Lok Sabha elections as a TMC candidate from Baharampur constituency in West Bengal.
He defeated veteran Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury by a margin of 85,022 votes from a seat, considered as party’s stronghold.

After taking his oath, the former cricketer said, “Jai Hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Gujarat.”
Notably, Pathan hails from Gujarat’s Baroda.
In the Lok Sabha elections, TMC secured 29 out of 42 seats in West Bengal, while BJP won 12 and Congress only one.
Yusuf announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2021.
The 41-year-old played 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is for India, accumulating 1,046 runs across both formats and taking 46 wickets combined. (ANI)
