Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 4 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party media convenor in Karnataka, Jagdish V Sadam said that all the Indians are coming together to end Bharatiya Janata Party’s rule at the Centre on April 7.
Sadam said the party will go on a hunger strike across the country on April 7 to protest against the “dictatorial attitude” of the central government. AAP leaders and volunteers will also participate in the hunger strike from 6 am to 6 pm at Freedom Park in the city.
Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody until April 15 and is lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a money-laundering case linked to an alleged excise policy scam.
Addressing a press conference in the city on Thursday, Sadam said, “AAP leaders and workers are participating in the Satyagraha in all district and taluka headquarters. All Indians are coming together in order to remove the Narendra Modi government from our nation.”
Stating that AAP has set an ‘example’ in terms of utilising taxpayers’ money, Sadam accused the BJP of “suppressing democracy”.
“AAP government has set an example for the country in better utilization of taxpayers’ money. A revolution is being done in Delhi and Punjab by providing free water, electricity, education, and health care. The BJP government, which does not tolerate the pro-people governance, is trying to suppress democracy by arresting Aam Aadmi Party leaders,” Sadam said.
Taking the attack on the Centre further, the AAP leader further said that the case against Kejriwal is “false” and BJP needs to be taught a “lesson in the people’s court.”
“The BJP is trying to portray Arvind Kejriwal, who fought against corruption and is fighting for the passage of the Lokpal Bill across the country, as corrupt. His wife Sunita has also worked as a joint secretary in the Income Tax Department. The BJP, which is trying to project them as corrupt, needs to be taught a lesson in the people’s court. A false case has been registered against Arvind Kejriwal and he has been arrested. Sarath Chandra, the owner of Aurobindo Pharma, has donated Rs 56 crore to the BJP through electoral bonds. This shows that the BJP is a recovery party,” he added.
Youth wing state president Lohith Hanumanthapura hailed the release of Rajya Sabah MP Sanjay Singh adding that the fight against BJP will continue.
“Sanjay Singh’s release has sent a message that truth has value. Sanjay Singh was released after massive protests across the country on Sunday. Our fight will continue till the BJP is ousted from power,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai announced that the Aam Aadmi Party will observe a ‘Samuhik Upwas’ (community fasting) to protest against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at Jantar Mantar on April 7. Rai also appealed to the people to be a part of the ‘Samuhik Upwas’.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh came out of Tihar jail on Wednesday night, where he had been for six months in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case after the Supreme Court granted him bail from Tihar Jail.
On Wednesday, after walking out of jail, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh said it was not the time to celebrate but to “fight” as other AAP leaders including the “topmost leader” Arvind Kejriwal are in jail. (ANI)
