Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 20 (ANI): After the tragic incident at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal’s Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh government has issued instructions for CCTV surveillance in all the government medical colleges and government hospitals in the state.
Speaking to ANI, Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health and Medical Education Minister, Rajendra Shukla said, “We all need to work more actively and sensitively towards the safety of doctors as the incident in West Bengal has shaken everyone. Hence instructions have been given that all the medical colleges, hospitals, especially the gynae wards and places where the number of women is maximum, should be monitored with CCTV cameras. So that it will be easy to catch those who commit any crime.”
The Madhya Pradesh government is very sensitive to make surveillance more stronger. Instructions have been issued that tight security arrangements should be made available in the medical college so that girl students feel safe, Shukla said.
When asked about inspection and monitoring during night hours, he said, “There are standing orders to deans and superintendents to remain constantly vigilant, take care and keep a close eye on everything. In order to increase security arrangements, we have made norms. Those medical colleges where manpower is less according to the norms, instructions are being issued to increase manpower so that the lack of security can be overcome. We will make these arrangements in government hospitals as well.”
The Director of Medical Education (MP) issued instructions to the Deans of all medical colleges on August 14 whose compliance would be ensured with immediate effect.
CCTV cameras, lighting and security personnel should be arranged in highly sensitive areas like parking, basement, roof, stairs and places where there is less movement of people. Strict security arrangements at the entry and exit gates of all medical colleges / hospitals should be ensured so that the entry of anti-social elements will be prohibited.
Security personnel should take continuous rounds to keep a close watch on anti-social activities. It should be ensured that the Dean and Superintendent take night rounds on the campus. Additionally, it should be ensured that proper arrangements were made for the safety of the patients and their families. All medical colleges should also request the local police / administration for continuous monitoring and patrolling. If there is a police post in the campus, then issue instructions to them to take action for the security of the campus.
Furthermore, apart from serious patients, ensure that only one attendant is allowed with a patient in the hospital and unnecessary persons should be kept at the entry gates and wards of the hospitals after 6 pm. (ANI)
