Tinsukia (Assam) [India], August 12 (ANI): Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, was joined by hundreds of BJP Yuva Morcha members in a bike rally to celebrate the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in Assam’s Tinsukia on Monday.
The rally was organised to dedicate the spirit of Tiranga with participation from locals, youth volunteers, representatives of many social organisations, and leaders, among others, to make it a success.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Sonowal said, “‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a wonderful celebration of the spirit of Tiranga. This bike rally is an attempt to celebrate this spirit. With the active participation of youths of this region, it is a heartwarming feeling to witness how the young generation is etched with the spirit of nationalism and nationhood. We have this freedom, this precious independence, because of the sacrifice of thousands of freedom fighters. We must remember their sacrifice and ensure that the young people of our country are aware of such heroic deeds. This will not only bolster the spirit of the nation but also drive selfless commitment to the cause of nation building. I must thank our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for calling everyone to celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga to celebrate the spirit of freedom and independence.”
The Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal led the rally, which began from Chaliha Nagar and then moved through Tinikunia, AT Road, Bus Stand, Chirwapatty Road, and Khargeswar Bazaar before culminating at Chaliha Nagar, completing a distance of 9 km.
Sonowal also offered floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial near Khargeswar Market in the city today.
The Minister of Labour Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam, Sanjay Kishan; the District President (Tinsukia) of the BJP, Kushakanta Borah; the Vice Chairman, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), Rituparna Baruah; the General Secretary, BJP Assam Pradesh, Pulak Gohain; the Chairman, Dibrugarh Development Authority, Ashim Hazarika; and the President, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Siddhartha Baruah, among others, joined the bike rally.
Earlier on August 8, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat announced the third edition of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign that will be celebrated from August 9-15 as part of the Independence Day celebrations, according to a statement from the Ministry of Culture.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the Minister said that the initiative aims to instill a spirit of patriotism and national pride among citizens by encouraging every Indian to hoist the national flag. The Minister urged the citizens to hoist the Tiranga at their homes and click a selfie with the flag.
On Friday, August 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged the citizens to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a mass movement by hoisting the national flag at their homes. Changing his profile picture on social media to ‘Tricolour’, PM Modi further urged everyone to change their profile picture to the same. (ANI)
