New Delhi [India], August 9 (ANI): Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the re-notification of the entire land area measuring 54.89 hectares of Baprola Industrial Area to be developed as ‘Industrial Park’ under the Delhi Industrial Development, Operation and Maintenance (DIDOM) Act, 2010.
As per an official release, the approval to re-notify land has been granted under the DIDOM Act subject to the condition that the land earmarked for various land uses in the layout plan notified vide Ministry of Urban Development, GoI notification dated December 20, 2013, is maintained and the activities permitted within the Industrial use zone shall be strict as per Master Plan of Delhi.

Earlier, in October 2023, the LG had approved an area of 22.34 hectares in the Baprola Industrial Area to be developed as an Industrial Park. Later on, it was observed that a certain portion of the said park, other than the notified 22.34 hectares of land, was also earmarked for residential use as well as for recreational and circulation purposes.
All these land uses were to be components of the integrated Baprola Industrial Park, having a total area of 54.89 hectares. DSIIDC also opined that as per notification issued by the Ministry of Urban Development, GOI dated December 20, 2013, regarding modification of land use for the Baprola Project, the entire land measuring 54.89 hectares has been considered under industrial land use and, therefore, renamed as “Industrial Park”. Accordingly, the entire land measuring 54.89 hectares should be considered for re-notification under Baprola Industrial Park.

Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, had cleared the land use in Baprola way back in the year 2013 but its notification was delayed due to unreasonable apathy and inordinate delay of nearly 10 years on the part of the AAP Government.
Earlier, LG while approving the proposal for notification in September 2023, had observed that it is a matter of serious concern that the objective of rapid and regulated industrial growth with the potential of creating thousands of employment opportunities for citizens was slowed down due to lackadaisical approach of the Department, adversely impacting the industrial sector of the city’s economy.

Development of the Baprola Industrial Area will facilitate regulated industrial growth in the Capital whereby green and eco-friendly industries will get much-desired space to operate, rather than shifting out to neighbouring locations in UP and Haryana. With this, the illegal operation of hundreds of industrial units from commercial/residential areas that often cause mishaps and unregulated pollution will also be contained to a great extent.
Development of industrial areas entails up-gradation / augmentation, managing, operating and maintaining infrastructure facilities in an efficient and integrated manner, while ensuring a high level of anti-pollution measures and performance standards.

Saxena approved the notification of the Kanjhawala Industrial area last year and the Rani Khera Industrial area earlier this year. (ANI)
