New Delhi [India], July 30 (ANI): AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enact a law to stop the looting by coaching institutes and regulate them.
He wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged him to enact a central law aimed at regulating coaching institutions citing the incident that occurred in Old Rajendra Nagar and stressed the importance of safeguarding students.
Three UPSC students lost their lives after the basement of their coaching centre was heavily flooded with rainwater. The incident occurred at Rau’s Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar on Saturday evening after heavy rains.
The AAP MP said in the letter that in the past few years, cases of paper leak have increased.
The collusion between the coaching institutes and corrupt elements in the government machinery have jeopardised the future of lakhs of students, he alleged.
In the letter to PM, Sanjay Singh also said, “I would like to inform you that the incidents of paper leaks have been continuously increasing in the country for the last few years. The collusion between the government machivery and the coaching mafia has put the future of millions of youth in the country in jeopardy.”
The AAP MP in the letter further said that the coaching mafia has been found to have a big role in the paper leaks happening in the country. “Be it NEET paper, government recruitment exam or university admission exam. Be it Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh or Bihar, coaching mafias have been involved in paper leaks in all the exams,” Singh said.
Stepping up his attacks on the coaching institutes, Singh said that the coaching institutes in the country have become money-printing machines. He added, “Lakhs of rupees are being demanded from parents in the name of admission in medical and IIT. Some are paying the coaching fees by investing their entire life’s savings and some are selling their land and property and hence, it is necessary to make government rules. Despite charging exorbitant fees, coaching operators try to earn maximum income with minimum expenditure, hence they force more students to sit in dilapidated buildings than their capacity.”
The letter by AAP MP criticised the infrastructure of the coaching institutes and said, “These coaching institutes neither have proper exit gates nor entry gates; neither the security related aspects are taken into account nor is anyone concerned about it while taking space on rent from the building owners.”
“The students who come to the institutions to shape their future are constantly in danger of accidents and the same is the condition of the accommodation facilities of the students for which huge rents are charged. Only food is supplied in the name of facilities,” the letter said.
Urging the Prime Minister to bring a law to prevent the wrongdoings of the coaching centres, Singh said, ” The operators of coaching institutes are putting the lives of the students at risk. They are violating the rules and carrying out paper leaks indiscriminately. They are trying to cheat parents by charging huge fees. The attitude of all the governments in this matter has been disappointing. An appropriate central law should be made to prevent this.”
The letter further said, “Therefore, keeping in mind the future of the students, it is a humble request to you that appropriate law should be made immediately to crack down on the coaching mafias so that the tragic incident that happened in Old Rajendra Nagar is not repeated.” (ANI)
