Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 26 (ANI): The Chief of the Himachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee, Jenab Chandel, has accused Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut of neglecting the issues of the flood-affected regions in Himachal Pradesh.
Chandel alleged that Ranaut has failed to bring the plight of these regions to the attention of the Parliament and criticised her for not demanding necessary financial assistance for restoration efforts.
Addressing the media in Shimla, Chandel expressed her disappointment, stating, “It has now become the habit of BJP to criticise instead of coming forward to support the government of Himachal Pradesh in restoring the infrastructure in the state. Our government has paid 7 lakh rupees to those who lost their houses in floods last year. Now you are a member of the parliament, and instead of raising this important issue, you are putting allegations on the state government. Kangna Ranaut is an elected MP now, and she should have raised the issue of floods and disasters in the Parliament. You should have demanded the financial help to the state, which is much needed to restore the flood-hit state. All of our ministers, Chief Minister, and Deputy Chief Minister, are ready to come with you to seek support from the Union government.” said Jenab Chandel while speaking to ANI.
In addition to the accusations, Chandel announced that the Mahila Congress will continue their protests against the Union government until their demands are met.
These demands include 33% reservation for women in elections, social security and safety for women, financial assistance of 8500 rupees per month to poor women, and measures to control inflation.
“On 29th July, All India Mahila Congress will protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on three important issues against the Union government. We want the government to implement the announcement of 33% reservation for women in Parliament. This issue should be brought up for discussion in the Parliament and it should be implemented immediately. The women should get the reservation in the upcoming elections of the assemblies in the four states of India. For economic freedom, women should be provided one lakh rupees, and poor women should be given 8500 rupees per month,” Chandel said.
“You claim to be working in the interest of women. We demanded that the Union government control inflation. They promised to provide LPG cylinders at 500 rupees, but after the elections, their promises are over. We also demand the government provide social security to the women of the country. Crime against women is increasing across the country. After the July 29 protest in Delhi, we shall continue protests at the state and district level until we get justice,” she added. (ANI)
