New Delhi [India], October 5 (ANI): New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal on Sunday emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Fit India’ has made India more health-conscious, and now parents are also concerned about their children’s health
On participating inthe Kids’ Marathon – ‘Kidy Widy Divya Marathon,’ New Delhi Municipal Council Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal told ANI, “The Prime Minister’s vision of a Fit India and its efforts to combat obesity have made the country more health-conscious. Taking the Prime Minister’s message, parents are now also concerned about their children’s health, and I’m seeing this beautiful race organised on the Kartavya Path. Everyone, from 2-year-olds to adults and their parents, is participating with them. Therefore, the organisation and all the people involved in organising this race deserve praise…”
Meanwhile, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya participated in the special edition of ‘Fit India: Sundays on Cycle’ in Delhi on Sunday morning. Speaking at the event, the minister urged the people to take the Fit India Movement forward, stating that a healthy society is the foundation of a prosperous nation.
The minister, along with other participants, rode from Major Dhyanchand Stadium to India Gate.
“Sundays on Cycle has become a movement to promote Prime Minister Modi’s Fit India Movement. On Sundays, lakhs of people ride bicycles to keep themselves fit… It has given people the message that maintaining balance in life is essential… I congratulate all those teachers who are connected with Sundays on the Cycle,” Mandaviya told reporters.
The Minister stated that to make India a developed nation by 2047, its citizens needed to become healthy.
“Cycling makes an individual fit. When individuals become fit, society will become healthy. A healthy society is the basis of a prosperous nation. In 2047, when India celebrates its hundredth Independence Day, we have to make India a developed India. One step in this direction is fitness. We have to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India movement forward,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of striking a balance to march ahead in life.
“When we do cycling, we have to keep balance. In life, we also find our pace when we maintain balance. To move forward, we need to strike a balance. Cycling will teach you how to get the balance. Therefore, all the teachers participated in this initiative to convey to the students the importance of a balanced life. From the Fit India dashboard, I learned that across the country, more than 10,500 teachers joined ‘Sundays on Cycle’. I congratulate all the teachers who participated in this,” he added.
The ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Yogasana Bharat and MY Bharat. The cycling drive is organised simultaneously in the capitals of all States and Union Territories, besides SAI Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), SAI Training Centres (STCs), Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs) and Khelo India centres (KICs) across various age groups.
