Ajmer (Rajasthan) [India], July 19 (ANI): A doctor whose quick actions helped save the life of an elderly man who suffered a heart attack at the Delhi Airport recently was flooded with appreciation from social media users after a video of her reviving the victim was shared widely online.
Dr Priya who administered CPR to the man who was in his 60s who collapsed after suffering a heart attack at Terminal 2 of Delhi Airport said that nobody one could take the place of God but can only work according to his will. She also highlighted that quick administration of CPR saved the man’s life.
Recounting the events, Dr Priya said, “The first thing is that no one can take the place of God. We are able to do any work only with his signals. We returned from Amarnath Yatra that day and our flight had got delayed… At that time, we were in the food court area. At a nearby stall, there was an elderly man who suddenly fell.”

She further said, “My husband Dr Ramakant Goyal was also with me. When we reached, a doctor couple were also there. When all four of us examined him, we found him unresponsive. His heartbeat had stopped and there was no pulse at all. We immediately performed CPR and within about five minutes, he turned responsive. His breathing and pulse had started and we continued the CPR…”
Dr Priya added that within some time, he became stable and his pulse rate got better. “We had called the airport staff as well. We later checked the patient’s pulse and saturation and it was better.”
The doctor’s efforts were lauded by Vasudev Devnani, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in Rajasthan. Devani took to his official X handle and praised Dr Priya for saving the man’s life. He said, “Dr Priya, a resident of Jaipur and Senior DMO at Ajmer Railway Hospital, saved the life of an elderly person by giving CPR at Delhi Airport with her intelligence. The elderly person had a heart attack.”
Devnani said, “Her wisdom and courageous act is going to make all of us aware. Giving CPR within five to six minutes of a heart attack can save the person’s life and he can be taken to the hospital on time.”
CPR, which stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is performed during cardiac arrest when the heart stops beating or beats too ineffectively to circulate blood to the brain and other vital organs.
“CPR is a technique that is used when heartbeat stops and blood flow to any part of the body stops, or when blood flow to our brain stops, irreversible damage starts,” Dr Priya said noting that CPR administered within a few minutes of a person suffering a heart attack can increase in the chances of reviving patients.
