Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 12 (ANI): Maharashtra Minister Dadaji Bhuse said that a resolution has been unanimously passed in the Maharashtra legislative council to rename 7 railway stations, which had English names since the British era between Mumbai Central and Mumbai West.
He also said that the Central government would be requested to consider the proposal.
Speaking to ANI, Maharashtra Minister Dadaji Bhuse said, “The 7 railway stations on this rail route which had English names since the British era, to name them after the original names of those places before the British came, a proposal has been passed in the Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad.”
He further said that the reaction from the Railways is positive and the Central government would be requested to consider renaming the seven railway stations.
According to the proposal, Currey Road will be renamed as Lalbaug, Marine Lines as Mumbadevi, Charni Road as Girgaum, Cotton Green as Kalachowkie, Sandhurst Road as Dongri, Dockyard Road as Mazgaon and King’s Circle as Tirthankar Parshavnath. (ANI)
