Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 10 (ANI): After Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bestowed with Russia’s highest civilian honour during his Moscow trip, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut took a dig saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin can award anybody he wants as there is no opposition in Russia.
“Putin is the owner of his country. There is no opposition there. He can give an award to anyone in this way,” said Sanjay Raut.
“Before this, many Prime Ministers of the country have received the honour. Manmohan Singh ji has received it, Indira ji has received it, it is a tradition. What is new in it?” he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, PM Modi received the Order of St Andrew the Apostle, Russia’s most prestigious civilian honour from President Vladimir Putin for his outstanding efforts to promote partnership and friendship between India and Russia. Upon receiving the honour, PM Modi thanked Putin and Russia saying that it was a ‘samman’ for 140 crore Indians and a reflection of the centuries-old friendship between the two countries.
