Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 29 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday defended the party’s decision to expel and later reinstate certain leaders, including her nephew Akash Anand, stressing that such actions are taken in the interest of the party and its movement.
In a post on X, hitting out at “selfish and sellable” elements within the Bahujan Samaj for allegedly spreading false propaganda, she urged party workers to remain vigilant and fully support reinstated members.
“It is known that some people associated with BSP commit a lot of mistakes due to their ignorance, enthusiasm and carelessness or by getting influenced by the conspiracy of the opposition parties, who then have to be removed from the responsibility of the party and in serious cases even expelled to rectify the situation in the interest of the party,” Mayawati said.
“And after some of them change and apologize, they have to be taken back in the interest of the party and the movement. And since the party was formed, this has been done; some people have been expelled from the party many times and have also been taken back. This happens in other parties as well,” she said.
Mayawati, in the matter of her nephew Akash Anand, blamed “selfish and sellable” elements within the Bahujan Samaj for spreading misinformation and urged party members to remain vigilant and support reinstated leaders with full respect.
“But in the case of Akash Anand, especially some selfish and sellable people of the Bahujan Samaj, who have formed several of their own parties and organizations to divide and weaken the votes of the party, keep spreading false propaganda about this matter in the media every day,” the BSP chief said.
“Party members should be cautious of such opportunistic and selfish elements and should also encourage Akash Anand so that he can work wholeheartedly for the party. Similarly, all the other people who have been taken back into the party should also be given full respect and honour, which is in the interest of the party,” Mayawati said.
Earlier this month, Mayawati reinducted her nephew Akash Anand into the party after he issued a public apology and pledged loyalty to the party and its principles. However, she made it clear that reinducting his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, is not possible, citing his involvement in serious anti-party activities. (ANI)
