Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 5 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar leader Rohit Pawar slammed the Mahayuti government for putting up photos of political party leaders at the Chief Minister’s official residence where members of the Indian Cricket team were invited after their T20 World Cup win.
“There are photos of political leaders. It seems as if they won the World Cup. The photos of the Indian team should have been put up. Secondly, are you asking for votes here on the success of the Indian team, these things are very wrong. It is not right to do politics. Let the Mahayuti do whatever they want. We will be welcoming the team with an open heart,” Rohit Pawar said speaking to ANI on Friday.

Pawar said that since a lot of people had come to watch the World Cup winning team and to congratulate them during the open bus victory parade from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium, it led to people facing “little trouble” in some places. Pawar also claimed that the program was finalized at the last moment leading to inadequate time for preparations.’

“After talking to BCCI we came to know that the program of Mumbai was suddenly finalized there, so due to that the separate bus that we had to organize, be it decoration or putting stickers, it was not going to be done on time, so they had a readymade bus, they sent it and secondly, a lot of people had come there to watch the World Cup and to congratulate our Indian team. More than 2 lakh people were there, and in many places, people had a little trouble… In the future when such a big program is organized, then all these things need to be taken care of in detail…,” Rohit Pawar said speaking to ANI on Friday.
Winning team members of the T20 World Cup Champion India, captain Rohit Sharma, batters Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Yashasvi Jaiswal and the bowling coach met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at his official residence in Mumbai on Friday.

The Chief Minister facilitated victorious members of the Indian team with shawls and idols of Lord Ganesha, congratulating the Indian players for the victory.
Following their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, the players departed for Mumbai on Thursday. The T20 World Cup-winning team celebrated the win in a victory parade on an open bus, followed by a ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium in South Mumbai on Thursday.
India ended its 13-year ICC World Cup trophy drought with a historic victory in Barbados, as the Men in Blue defeated South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling game.
Virat Kohli’s 76 runs helped India reach 176/7, while Hardik Pandya (3/20) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18) helped India restrict the Proteas to 169/8, despite Heinrich Klaasen’s 52 in just 27 balls. Bumrah, who got 15 scalps throughout the tournament at a stunning economy rate of 4.17, got the ‘Player of the Tournament’ honours. (ANI)
