New Delhi [India], April 19 (ANI): BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal on Saturday criticised Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee for showing “double standards” after he called Jagdambika Pal an “undemocratic person” who speaks out against others but remains silent on issues in West Bengal.
Speaking to ANI, Khandelwal said, “… Being a Member of Parliament, he should keep in mind the dignity and decorum of the Parliament and of being an MP… The Waqf Bill has been passed through the parliamentary process… So those who make laws should not use such language.”
He further said, “The surprising thing is that Kalyan Banerjee is giving ‘gyaan’ here, but he has not said anything about what is happening in West Bengal and what the state’s CM is doing. This shows his double standards.”
Khandelwal also said that, as a Member of Parliament, he should remember the dignity and decorum of the Parliament and of being an MP.
The criticism comes after Kalyan Banerjee’s remarks on BJP leader Jagdambika Pal, Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf Bill, over the Waqf Amendment Act.
“He (Jagdambika Pal) should resign immediately because of his nasty work. He is an undemocratic person. The Waqf Act has been passed solely based on the number of members. I can assure that it will be declared unconstitutional,” Banerjee told ANI.
Pal said that he would resign from his post if the Joint Parliamentary Committee’s report was found to be unconstitutional.
“I have said before, too, that if the report made by us is unconstitutional or interferes with religious freedom, then I will resign,” Jagdambika Pal told ANI in Delhi. (ANI)
